I forgot to mention Keno has to go every other day to the vet because after the sugary he was still bleeding. He has a pressure bandage on to stop it and he has a pump connected to the incisions, which we have to empty out and record how my fluid comes out. At first it was 50mL now it is about 15 mL. It’s not all blood but it’s blood mixture with other fluids. Did anyone else also experience this?
this isn’t so uncommon. often a seroma (think pocket of fluid) forms at the incision. gravity will cause the fluid to gather and fill the pocket. this is usually clear-ish, not like a bleed. and, it shouldn’t smell bad (that would be signs of trouble). of course, the vet is the best source for care, but seromas usually re-obsorb, turn terrible bruise colors, then go away. the first two weeks can be rough… hang in there!

Leaky seromas are indeed common. Don’t miss this video discussing seromas and other complications for details about what to look out for.

Hi Keno, sorry you have to go back to the vet. I did too, but it got better. You will too, I promise.
Glad to have you here, even though I’m sorry you lost your leg. I know you’ll do fine though! Hang in there.
